1931 Abbott Street Kelowna. My family & I spent a week at this beautiful home 1 block from the beach. It was a fantastic rental & perfect place for us to spend a week all together. Impeccably clean & it had everything we needed. The owners / hosts are super friendly & dedicated to make sure all their guests have a great time.

I rented a vacation home through Okanagan Vacation Home Rentals (OVHR) from August 15-August 22 for my family and our friends. There were 10 of us in total. We arrived to a dirty home that had obviously not been cleaned in several months. No curtains on the expansive master bedroom windows. The hot tub was broken and the tv's didn't work. The fridge was full of half eaten food (half full jugs of milk and cottage cheese), there was hair on the bathroom floors and in our beds. Cupboards were full of expired medication and food. Thick dust coated the furniture. We asked the owner to return and clean out the fridge, which she did but she commented that she purposely left the food because "most people appreciate the extra.". The property was listed as having a separate caretaker suite. Apparently that means having her son, his wife and their dog living in the basement. They had dragged an armoire across the basement hallway to separate our living spaces but they had complete access to the home. On the 16th, the owner snuck on to the property with 13-15 people and was hosting a party on the private beach that was included with our home rental. We called the emergency line for OVHR and they did tell her to leave. The guests did leave but it was 2 hours later. All of this is unacceptable at anytime but it's especially bad during a pandemic. The home owner informed us, AFTER our arrival that someone would be coming in to inspect the home as she had sold it. I'm not sure why she would book a home inspection when she knew she had renters or why she didn't give us any advance notice. At this point we had had enough and wanted to leave. We found a lovely airbnb and the rest of our holiday was great.
Eugene at OVHR did give us a complete refund. However, we lost 3 days of our holiday. We never received an apology. We were told that the owner "didn't feel we were worth the trouble" so we could have our money back. I had to email Eugene multiple times to ensure my refund was issued. This home should never have been for rent. I sincerely hope that Eugene has since taken the house down as a rental property.

I was a long-term (10-month) tenant of one of the properties. Echoing many of the more recent reviews, OVHR was very slow to respond to our reasonable requests (IF we got a response at all), and didn't seem too concerned about us as customers (paying over $32,000 during our stay). I had much more (and more pleasant) interaction with the owner of the property than with anyone at OVHR. Nothing was "bad" with OVHR ... they just didn't seem to care that much, and left us feeling "disappointed".

Wouldn't use this company again. I called in to book a property and was convinced not to book it as there were issues with damaged docks according to the rep. Part owner of this company is named Eugene sent me another property and we agreed on a reservation. Took my credit card number and said he would send me a confirmation. An hour later, after I released another property we were holding he calls to tell me sorry...the owner has booked the time we are looking at... are we flexible with dates? Then proceeds to send me other properties on e-mail worth twice as much per week.

I called in today to complain further and the guy on the phone told me Eugene is the owner and that is as far as I go. So I guess suck it up and move on. Thanks for a disappointing (and shoddy) experience.

Don't use Okanagan Vacation Home Rentals to manage your home or book a vacation rental! We booked a home in West Kelowna, Serenity Ridge, from Aug 28-Sept 4. At over $1000 night, we had problems throughout the week:
1) The cleanliness of the home was completely unacceptable. We sent an email with pictures about our concerns and the company did not respond, just ignored our email for over 2 weeks. When I called, I was told "because you didn't complain until 2 days left in your stay, we will not do anything about it:" (sorry i had to deal with a death in the family at the same time) So the owner and the company did not feel it was worth responding or compensating for the dirty house (even though cleaning standards should be higher with COVID).
2) The pool was not clean and filters weren't working properly, affecting the temperature of the water and our ability to use it when we wanted it. When we complained, someone was sent, but we only got to use the pool 2 days. On arrival, the hot tub and pool were both dirty - still never received a response on why the hot tub would have been dirty.

Find another way to book your vacation property!

We have rented 3 houses over the last 3 years from this company and have always had a great time. Our group ranged each year from 10 to 8 but we have always found the houses ready on arrival and managers helpful if we needed anything. Highly recommend
