The thought of having to deal with WCB is stressful itself. They send you emails asking for information but the adjudicator on the case doesn’t even call you. I have tried to return their emails by phone and email to get nowhere. I was told they needed more information to determine my case but can’t get through to anyone. If you call the call centre number, they are nice but just transfer you to your adjudicator on the case, who never answers the phone. And if you leave a voicemail with your email, no response that way either. Just a waste of time and causes stress to your mental health.

Edit: Feb 15th 2025. To WCB, My case manager is the one who told me not be calling again about this previous issue. That if i call again i must make a new case about a previous issue i.e. WCB want me to lie and say i had another accident when in fact tis is not true. Also it does not matter whom i speak to or email in WCB. All they do is apologies for there issues with me. Imagine living in pain, every day, struggling and to be told that if i don't give up my business i wont get help from WCB. The same woman then sent me a letter which states i am ready to return to work fully. Just more lies from WCB. All these one star review must mean something to you guys, but obviously they do not. Something needs to be done. I would need a week to type here my story, im sure other WCB plaintiffs share similar feelings. You people should be ashamed of yourself, but for this to happen you must care about your clients first and unfortunately WCB do not care about no one but themselves. Perhaps we can voice our concerns to the new PM when he gets elected.

I've been suffering from an injury since 2015. I work, through pain each and every week. I've learned to live with my condition, but from time to time i get flared up in such a way i cant walk, lay down, use the wash room etc. WCB offered me a permanent disability few months back, and the next day the same woman whom i wont name at this time basically tried black mail me. I was told to either give up the business i have fought so hard to make over the last 4 years or get nothing from WCB. Of course i choose my business, and that was that. Im currently late with this months payment and im being threatened with legal action from WCB. Just what kind of people do they think they are? They treat you like an absolute idiot each and every time. Perhaps its WCB that need to be brought to justice for all their wrong doing.
Im an Immigrant here, like most are. I honestly thought i was in good hands. The Laws in Alberta need to be changed. There needs to be competition for WCB as they have the monopoly on work mans Insurance. My story is one that everyone would like to read, trust me WCB are not your friends, they are not on your side.

While I have never had an injury that has necessitated WCB involvement, I have worked with them in a professional capacity for years. Any time I need to reach out to a case manager or to someone in billings about a claim, I'm met with prompt, professional, courteous service and always walk away with my questions answered and concerns managed. They make the administrative process surrounding claims management a breeze so that our physicians can spend less time tangled up in red tape and more time helping patients recover from their injuries. From one professional to a whole team of others, thank you for your hard work!

Absolute crooked organization. Not only did they lie to me saying i have more than 48 hours to put in a claim, they cut the physio therapy before you are better claiming your injury doesn’t pertain to the injury sustained at work. If you get hurt working in Alberta this will happen to you. The company you work for will starve you out, beg you not to put in a claim because of the detriment it will have on said company. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM! they are doing this to protect themselves NOT YOU. Your company will lie to you, WCB WILL LIE TO YOU.

They are trying to sue my wife for a car accident that happened nearly 2 years ago. The accident was deemed her "fault" but was solely due to icy roads. What business does a company like workers compensation have in suing people? People pay into their policies to be covered in case of injury and loss of work. They should not be suing people and charging money for insurance policies on top of that. It's a small town, we talked with the guy, and he said he only wants his physio and some half time covered. No where near the $70,000 workers comp is asking for. Also our insurance broker (Mann and Mann) is leaving us high and dry, is incompetent, along with Wawanesa. No one is taking responsibility for who should handle this situation and Wawanesa hasn't gotten back to us. If you're reading this, I'd avoid both Wawanesa and Mann and Mann. Good luck dealing with these scum bags at Workers comp as well. Imaging being a business owner, getting hurt on someones property, and they sue them. That would seriously hurt your business' reputation! but these guys don't care, they're just trying to make money.

2nd Edit: So the fix was just throwing me to a different case worker and needing to explain myself again.
I have 2 kids who I take to and from school. Also currently not working with no income coming in.... Yet some how maybe an Uber might work better, but failing to understand that I still have no income coming in and paying for it first probably isn't going to work well. Amazing skills these case workers have.

I would like to also know why I can't get any information from Millard without them ignoring me to only talk to my case worker.

Gonna go live with my parents in Leduc to make this work as no one know how to save money and approve millage it seems.
Since time doesn't matter, mental health doesn't matter, and cost doesn't matter. But it's all my fault, because I don't want to be in that mental state after being in cab and waste more time and more money doing so.

Edit: Then allow the flexibility with your policy to accompany these personal issue.
As I said. I could live 10 km of Millard and I could easily get the approval, but since I live 30 km one way I can't cause I'm still within the city. Seems silly that the bounds of the city dictate the approval. Was also told I could just use the bus pass option and use that for fuel vs a bus. Seems like a work around, but seeking the approval for something that would cost WCB less than taking a cab shouldn't be a strait up NO cause I still sit in the imaginary line of the city.

As someone who is very un-easy with cabs. It's crazy that I could live 10 km north of Millard and get approved for diving to my treatment, but because I live 30 km one way and still in the bounds of the city I cant get approved for that. Let alone it feels like Tim wont even bother asking to see if I could get approval for it. I'm out of work and have no money to do this alone yet my mental health doesn't matter to them. I would love to go to Millard and get this going, but the lack of communication for some of the small questions is crazy. Sorry I would rather not be put into that mental state and sorry you wont help me. A shame that it would be cheaper and easier to do if they would approve it the way that would protect my mental health. Much rather not show up to treatment shaking. Silly

I was involved in head on collision MVA on highway significant injuries. I don’t use pain medication for pain management and requested a tens machine was denied requested massage therapy was denied even though both my dr and pt suggested I use this. I should have been on home care as I could not walk unassisted and had broken sternum, 4 ribs, nose, right leg broken and 3 broken toes, left leg hematoma and severe swelling on knee and leg both ankles in pain and obvious trauma. My daughter and her young family looked after me cleaning toilet assist bath assist and assisted dressing meals made and assisted to eat I was denied compensation from WCB and I appealed. 2 months later with no help for pain or massage still. I heard from Appeal I had receipts and dr notes I was informed not to submit until appeal decision was made which would take another 2 months. I finally received decision of denial due to me not have dr note or receipts. I was informed I could appeal which would take up to another 2-4 months. I was given a number to get appeal information with an expired recording and on recording told not to leave message and push zero to which you could speak to office which also did not work. The way I have been treated including my medical information and appeal information and any emails all being forwarded to my employer is an absolute breach of my privacy. There needs to be a serious overhaul of WCB giving people unlimited drugs with no help for pain management is absolute abuse. If anyone becomes addicted to pain medication on WCB there should be a class action law suit.
