I have recently gone through a life event, the end of my marriage and the need to move on and move forward to find a new place to call home. I was introduced to Whalen Mortgages by my realtor and the experience is nothing short of exemplary.
I was engaged to them from before my separation agreement was finalized, getting pre-approved knowing that since taking a bulk of the debt from my marriage my credit rating was dropping faster than I could expect.

My broker Payal was amazing! She was very professional, empathetic to my situation and most of all understanding to my concerns and helping me through it. She was able to secure me a mortgage preapproval at a very reasonable rate. She also guided me on how to get a lower rate once my credit rating.

I cannot say enough good things about Whalen Mortgages. I have full confidence in their abilities to secure you a mortgage in most any situation. If you are looking for a mortgage broker please consider Whalen Mortgages you will not be disappointed.

I feel like we didn't get the product that was best for us, AFTER signing mort. papers I figured out penalties/costs for pre-paying our mortgage- it would have been better for us to have taken out a 5 year term vs the 3 year- something I had to figure out AFTER- this should really have been "caught" by the broker- at least that's what I would think. Nothing was what I had asked for, I wanted bi-weekly payments, got monthly payments. I wanted my property tax to NOT be included- it was included. I can't tell you how many times I had to send the same documents to them... honestly- lost count. Felt rushed really-likely part of the whole renewal game not this companies fault- you don't get a warning from previous lender until a month before renewal.
Turns out I got a letter from the lender that I had previous - they had a 5 year term .25% less interest than what we signed with the "broker" for... no "qualifying", no nothing... go to the bank and sign... not a great taste..

I chose this broker as it was "local" to me. Really didn't matter- they don't have an office I don't think because everything was done online- I asked the underwriter if we were going to meet and was told "we don't do that, I'm working from home...". This can be a good and bad thing, but that is how they all operate I believe.

After posting my original review, I was contacted by both the underwriter, and the owner. Jody explained to me that I chose the right mortgage, by calculating early payout fees and such. (I have to take her word on this as I threw all my renewal documents away already). She also was reaching out to try to fix the property tax issue. It was nice to actually discuss what my issues were.. I can tell she cares deeply about her company.

We had the pleasure of having Deeqa and Jodi take us through the home buying process. They really did everything possible that they could do to get my home, work later then normal to make sure the process was completed in the short time they had to get it done. Shanna and Roxann were a dream to work with for the purchase of our first house. They held our hand during the entire process and have wonderful personalities.
