We booked a Lakeview duplex. The cottage is very roomy but no doors on either bedroom. The view of the lake is very limited. We noticed a lot of dust and hairs especially in the bathrooms. Cleanliness was a bit lacking. Overall it was adequate for the 2 of us. We stayed in late September and found the Unit very warm so can't imagine it in the summer time. For the price would probably stay elsewhere next time.

Stayed here for two nights in one of the 2 bedroom villas.|We absolutely loved it there. The kitchen was very equipped with everything you could ask for and more, the small electric fireplace really created an ambience in the living area.|The living area offers plenty of sitting space.|Bedrooms are very comfortable and beds are huge. We loved the see-through shower in the upstairs bedroom. |Very high standard of accommodation. Great outdoor decks, where we could sit outside and drink our coffee in peace in the morning listening to the nature.|highly recommend!

This is a gorgeous and quiet low-key property, wonderful lake for a lovely swim. I am already booking for same time next year. The units are beautiful and the beds are plush and comfortable with fresh white sheets and comfy pillows. Some of the facilities need more maintenance (Group BarBQs) and the kitchen supplies/cutlery, etc should be checked (we only have 2 bread knives) but the surroundings allow one to overlook these inconveniences.

It's a mixed bag really. Because the cabins are owned and then rented out when not in use, each visit is a different experience. While they're all OK, som cabins are a bit nicer than others on the inside, and the locations very much change the experience.
It would also be nice if groups were able to book together, rather than "we'll do the best we can". My family and friends have spent many nights at the Cabins, and while the level of experience varies, it's always been between good and great.

We were very disappointed:( |It was dirty, the cabin needs a good and deep clean. There was a large stain on the sofa. The carpet on the stairs need to be cleaned. The coffee cups were filthy and stained. The sink had food residue and the dish rack was slimy underneath. There was a lot of food crumbs in the drawers. The cutlery was not properly cleaned/washed. |To top it off the management had the audacity to instruct us to take out the garbage and recycling AND take the sheets off the bed! We paid for service but didn't get it. Why would we have to take off the sheets etc What are the staff for? There was also conflicting instructions as to whether they wanted the windows left open or closed upon leaving. Very confusing! We were also charged a $20.00 booking fee when we did our own booking and all the work!! Another rip-off. We will not recommend staying here to anyone.

We stayed at the Cottages On Salt Spring Island in a 2 bedroom duplex for 1 week in August and there were some really great things about this place but there were also some very disappointing things.
The GREAT THINGS :
The view from our decks were very peaceful and so beautiful.
The 2 bedroom/2.5 bath cottage had a great layout with a powder room on the main floor and the bedrooms on separate floors.
The beds were super comfy.
The cottages were close to town and really not a far drive from anything.
The DISAPPOINT THINGS:
The website advertised Paddle Boarding, Canoeing and Bike riding which we were all excited to do. However for the 40+ cottages there were only 2 paddleboards, even though the main desk told us there were at least 10, 1 canoe and we never did see the bikes.
The cleaning was not great when we arrived.
The deck could of had a bit of a sweep before we arrived.
All 3 toilets had rings in the toilet bowls.
The hand soap in the powder room was so watered down it really was just water.
There is no dishwasher in this unit so the dishes need to be washed by hand. We had to rewash every dish, bowl and utensil before we used it. One knife was put away with jam still on it 🙁
The unit was meant for 4 people but the little tiny coffee pot only made small cups of coffee. A larger pot would be much better.
Although there were 2 full bathrooms for each bedroom the basement didn't have a shower or hand held wand in the massive deep bathtub so all 4 of us had to use the humongous bathroom upstairs in the loft.
We were only given 2 towels & 2 facecloths each for 4 adults for 1 week.
We were given 2 dishtowels and a 1/4 bottle of watered down dish soap.
However, when we did text for more towels, facecloths, toilet paper, dishwashing soap and paper towels the staff were quick to bring it down to us.
Our neighbour was an absolute pleasure and gave us tons of information about the cottages, island and where we needed to go. He even surprised us all one night with espresso martins while we were all sitting outside enjoying the beautiful evening.
We would come back to the Cottages on Salt Spring but I think we would be very selective on which unit we stayed in.
Friends of ours joined us a few days later and stayed in a single unit and it was immaculate!

This was our first trip to Salt Spring and despite the weather not being the best, we thoroughly enjoyed out stay. This was mostly impart to the wonderful accommodation at Cottage 21. We could not have asked for anything better and it went beyond our expectations. Driving into the property is a bit misleading as they all look very rustic but that is definitely not the case upon entering the interior. Very tastefully decorated, with anything and everything you would need for your stay. Would be ideal for 2 couples to share as there are bedrooms with full bathrooms on the upper and lower floors with the common area of kitchen and sitting room on the main floor.|The property is located on a small lake and when the sun finally came out sitting on the balcony in the quiet serenity of viewing the lake and watching the birds was a delight.
