I truly enjoy the part where the online and mobile banking services NEVER work. Especially not by the time they say that services should be restored. Who needs to pay their bills anyways?
There is not a single other banking institution in Canada that has as much downtime as SCU does.

They printed 30 USD cheques for me that I took to our vacation home in Phoenix. Of course I started handing out cheques in particular to our US bank BMO Harris USA. While on a trip to Mexico they called me to inform me that the cheques were coded wrong and no good. They had NO solutions to my problems and we rushed back to Phoenix to meet with the bank before they put a hold on my account and prevent all my bills from going NSF and destroying my excellent credit rating. I cannot describe how much trouble I went through to clear this up. When I asked for a small gift card for my trouble and particularly expenses, they refused! I was born in Steinbach and being a long time customer, I have noticed the change!

This place is rapidly declining over the years. I try to ask online for a current rates package in regards to an existing mortgage up for renewal and the first thing I get is a call from someone I could barely hear or understand, asking me to come in. I am working until 5pm, when you close everyday. That's why I requested an email or call to see what we can do. I guess the mortgage will have to stay variable forever!

In the past I've set up appointments via phone to discuss rates, then came in to sign at my convenience. This time it took 4 people to get this accomplished. I had to speak with 4 separate people and they all seemed to contradict eachother. They don't want to do any banking with you anymore unless you're at their mercy. 0 flexibility. 0 customer service. They close earlier than most banks. They can't rate match or modify things remotely. Why stay here anymore? I've pulled everything else out of this bank and opened elsewhere.

Nobody is going to take a day off work to go bank with you in person like it's 1941. Get with the times guys.

Friendly staff that are willing to help out. Great customer service and they really listen to you and explain things. Would recommend.

Terrible banking experiences. Lack of communication not just to their customers, but throughout their company. I speak to one rep (and thankfully write things down) that are not passed on to another rep (or more importantly, written on my account). Further, lack of professionalism and follow through on written (again, thankfully I keep email threads that have counteracted false accusations/claims against my account) acknowledgements and agreements. Also - should you have shared accounts with other family members - they go ahead and take money out of the others accounts to ensure your account is meeting monthly fees . Talk about all around questionable ethics!!! I do not recommend banking with them.
