Our family of 4 just had the absolute best day with Randy, Michael, Bernadette and Elizabeth at Skipper Ring's Boat Tours. We booked it on a whim today and it turned out to be the best part of our Newfoundland vacation. Their entire team was extremely accommodating, kind, skilled, funny and entertaining.

We went on their close to 2 hour cod jigging excursion followed by eating our freshly caught cod in their shop right afterwards. We decided to become "screeched in" with this lovely group after dinner and enjoyed every second of the whole ceremony. We loved the fact that our whole family (including 2 young children) could be a part of the screech-in since most other bars in the area do not allow children for liquor liability purposes.

Our family of four had an excellent trip! For the first hour it was a bit of a slow start to the fishing, but even then we enjoyed the story's, history and views (including puffin) from the boat. Randy and his crew were very knowledable and friendly. Once the fish started hitting, they just kept coming! One of our group caught a 13.5lb cod, and besides that there were multiple other large cod. My 8 year old caught her first (second and third) fish! Our family had a blast, as did the other family that joined us.
I would definitely recommend Skipper Rings for Cod Fishing tours!

What a wonderful experience trying cod jigging the traditional way with Randy and his friendly team. We had so much fun. We will be talking about this for a while. The skipper knew exactly where to find the fish. This tour exceeded our expectations. A nice meal awaited us after the 2 hour boat ride and we feasted on fresh pan fried cod. We even tried the tongue! The stories, Randy playing the accordéon, the ladies sharing the family history just made it extra special. We highly recommend. This is the best activity in Quidi Vidi.

We had such an incredible experience on this cod fishing tour! From start to finish, it was everything we hoped for and more. The trip lasted about 3 hours, and we ended up catching our full limit—so much fun and excitement reeling them in.

What really stood out was the atmosphere: it was a small, intimate group that made the experience feel personal and relaxed. The crew was beyond helpful, patient, and made sure everyone was comfortable and successful. On top of that, they kept us laughing the entire time—such a great sense of humor and such a positive vibe.

It’s clear this is a tight-knit, family-oriented operation, and that made the whole experience feel extra special. We walked away not only with plenty of fish, but also amazing memories. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, welcoming, and unforgettable cod fishing adventure!

Went out on a tour jigging Cod with Randy June 28, 25. What a great time. Newfoundland hospitality at its best. Caught lots of fish and felt like a Newfoundlander for the afternoon

If I could I would give Skipper Ring’s 10 stars. We really enjoyed every minute of the trip. It was also our first time trying cod jigging and we loved it. It was very fun.

It was amazing the toutons are to die for and the fish cakes are perfect after a long hike (they may sit on saltier side for some but I enjoyed it). I highly recommend paying them a visit.

Loved being on the boat with Randy and crew! It was a great experience cog jigging in St. John’s Newfoundland! He was very knowledgeable and a great story teller. Caught a lot of cod!
