Nous avons passé 3 nuits et 2 jours à Rock island , l'endroit est très joli, l'accueuil super sympa et nous avons fait du kayak d'abord dans la rivière en autonome puis le lendemain dans le lac Supérieur avec un jeuns guide tres professionel. Ces 2 balades ont été merveilleuses, temps très beau et eaux calmes, paysages superbes. A la tombée de la nuit nous avons refait une petite virée pour voir les castors, il y en avait plein! Nous mangions sur place, les repas sont prepares par des jeunes et c'était très bon. L'ambiance est très décontractée, tournée vers la conaissance et la protection de la nature . If I could give this place 10 stars I would. It’s not for everyone, but if you love adventure and kindhearted people and getting off the beaten track this place is for you. Every meal was simple and delicious. The lodge manager is so kind and personable. The guides were kind and wonderful (especially Morgan!). Our trip had to be canceled because of wind/swells but we had a wonderful time doing day trips from base anyway. This is the kind of place you want to return to every year and I hope I can.

Two friends and I used their shuttle service when we hiked the Lake Superior Coastal Trail and we have only good things to say. They communicated well, were on time and provided a great service for us and our gear. They were especially helpful when someone in our group left something behind on the shuttle and they were able to accommodate a drop off so we could regain our gear without delaying our hike. They went above and beyond and I would recommend them highly when looking to get around the park!

Lodge is on a picturesque peninsula next to Lake Superior. The rooms are very basic with no maid service during your stay. The bathroom/shower and towels were moldy. The food fluctuated from horrible to very good. One waitress/staff member was one of the rudest employees I have ever met.

Loved our one night stay in the glamping dome right on Lake Superior. A very comfortable sleep with beautiful night sky and water sounds and views. A truly magical location with welcoming resort hosts. We would definitely return and highly recommend.

It pains me to give Rock Island Lodge 4 stars and not 5. We adore this place. We have stayed in the Patterson Suit before (great option), but this time around the only accommodation available for our dates was the glam dome (pro tip: Book well in advance!). We booked based on our previous awesome experience. But the dome, in all honesty, is not at all glam or luxe. Nor is it near worth $160 a night. The furniture is worn, old, and stained. Like all domes, this one becomes a furnace during the day and is uninhabitable (though it cools down quick). Another irk is that communications with the lodge are godawful - I emailed and called multiple times weeks ahead of our visit to book a canoe trip, no one ever answered or responded. Such an odd thing to do, it feels as though they are actively thwarting business. Anyway, all that is to say that booking the lodge (if it’s available) is the way to go. And maybe wait until you get there to arrange tours. Regardless, this place is a slice of heaven.

This is probably the coolest place I've ever stayed, my only regret is we only booked one night as we were passing through.

We stayed in the blueberry prospector tent right on the beach, but they also have a "glam dome" available there as well. You sleep right next to lake superior, listening to the waves crash on to shore while you look at the stars and maybe even catch the northern lights (as we did) I can't recommend this experience enough, it's incredible.

There's a shower and sink building there for you on the beach as well, and earth toilets just up the path a little further.

Alternatively, they have lodge style rooms in the main building which offer all the modern comforts if you prefer that style of vacation. (Electricity, running water, flush toilets, etc)
