If I could give zero stars, I would. My father has been struggling with chronic vertigo and related symptoms, and instead of thoroughly investigating the root cause or referring him to the appropriate specialists, this doctor has lazily defaulted to prescribing antidepressants—not once, not twice, but three separate times—despite my father clearly stating he does not want them.

Part of my father’s recent depression flare-up is because of the debilitating vertigo—being dizzy all the time and unable to complete basic daily tasks. What he needs is a proper evaluation and testing, like a CAT scan—not pills shoved down his throat.

Antidepressants are not a cure-all and certainly not a solution to physical symptoms like vertigo. This approach is not only dismissive, it’s dangerous. When my father mentioned my concern about these repeated, inappropriate prescriptions, the doctor’s arrogant response was, “Is she a doctor?”—as if compassion and common sense require a medical degree.

This behavior is unethical and unprofessional. If this doctor continues to push medication against the clearly expressed wishes of patients, rest assured this matter will be taken to the next level through formal complaints and medical boards. Practices like this contribute to the deep distrust many people already feel toward the medical system.

Do better—or you will be held accountable.

Will try to make this brief. Three fingers were sutured at hospital emergency. I called family dr. to have removed in a week. I was told my doctor would be away and to phone back for referral to attending doctor at that time. I phoned as requested got phone no. of doctor filling in for my doctor and was told this doctor was not taking any phone calls. Needless to say I was confused waited until later in the day phoned again given a second doctors phone no. to call. Their answering service also said they were not taking any calls today . Next called the evening hours at clinic .I explained my situation and was put through to my doctors office.? Called again and was put on hold. I was told they were sorry busy call again in 10 min. called again disconnected. Called final time got an appointment for tomorrow. In summary I believe this clinic needs more consideration for its patients.

I have always found the staff at this clinic polite and competent. I have no problems getting through to someone when I call for an appointment. I have found that all the doctors in the area simply don't have enough time to spend sufficient time with patients since the Covid business. I look forward to when this is no longer an issue.
Well now I know why people complain about the staff here and the rudeness .....I had to deal with an extremely condescending, ignorant receptionist last week. She really destroyed my previous good thoughts about the staff here.

Dr Houpt, Elaine, Danielle and Julie have provided absolutely amazing care for our entire family!! Can't say enough good things about the whole team at the Morton Community Health Centre. When Dr Houpt is away we've had exceptional care from the other Dr's on call as our back up healthcare team. Thank you for everything you have done for us!!

Can never get a hold of them, RARELY do I get to see my actual doctor… I only see nurse practitioners… they only hire the rudest possible people to be at the front desk. I’ve run low on meds more than once because I can’t get an appointment or they keep changing their script renewal policies. Very poorly run.

I am very appreciative that I was able to find a clinic. After being in and around Peterborough for 3 years I was happy to find a doctor to help me out with my issues. I found that the doctors here are extremely busy and not enough of them. NP Cathy gave very personal care. Cathy is no longer going to be there and now the new doctor has been sick and now the appointment is pushed back. I know the clinic is not to blame however as a patient this is very disappointing. I pray the area gets more doctors so more people can be looked after.

Thank you guys for your help.

Been a "patient" for over 2 years. Never got any help.. I asked to help go over my medical history with my doctor to help identify some of my problems and never got any help. I asked for help renewing my puffers and I never got any help. Most of the time we've came we left feeling worse about ourselves and our mental health. Never can get a hold of anyone when we call. We basically have to goto walk in clinic any time we have a problem. Very disappointing. Really makes you think twice about "free health care".
