I moved north. However, when I was later leaving nursing, I went through a financial crisis. I contacted their office explaining the situation and asked what my options were. I was told I had one month's grace on payments. When their company withdrew the payment anyways, from my thinly spread bank account, it created a domino effect on the automatic withdrawals that were meant to be covered by the funds therein. The result was an enormous cascade of bank fees at the worst possible time. I then contacted their office again in order to cancel automatic withdrawals from them, which was done. After months of merry-go-round emails back and forth with the receptionist, and unanswered emails to Canada Life, the umbrella company, I was then told I would have to pay for the whole year in one lump sum; during the midst of a financial crisis that they had made much worse. During all of this time, I never once got to speak to my broker, Mr. Irvine. And all of this raised an extremely concerning question: If they were so unaccountable to the person that gives them money, how would they treat my beneficiary to whom they were being trusted to give money after I am gone?

I cancelled my contract due to lack of trust.

I have long since recovered from that crisis, but have had no interest in renewing a contract with this company, nor could I recommend this business.

January 17, 2019 - Reply to "Response from the owner":

I wish I could say I am surprised at your response, however it simply underscores my point, especially regarding the accountability of this business. I am at this moment viewing an email from Irvine Financial dated "12/13/16" stating "We have moved!...Irvine Financial 4553 Uplands Dr, Nanaimo BC...".

Point 1) Yes you did have communications with a client with this described scenario and I have the emails to prove it.

Point 2) Office responses were relatively prompt, just not productive, especially when Canada Life headquarters was involved.

Points 3 & 4) I was most definitely told to pay an annual premium and I cancelled my insurance with this company, and I have the documentation to prove both.

Point 5) As I stated above, I never once got to speak to my broker, Mr. Irvine.
