Contrary to the reviews on here, we did not have a good experience with GTA Accounting with our cross-border taxes. Our taxes were filed and completed months after the initial estimate, which alone was a frustrating experience. Additionally, as our taxes had to be filed after the US April deadline, the initial estimated tax amount that our accountant told us we had to pay was significantly higher than the actual amount that was due (~$3300 vs $1000) as he had made a mistake with the software. This significantly eroded our trust. Though their front desk staff is very cordial and kind, and our accountant was pleasant enough when we were able to talk to him, it was near impossible to get any kind of communication or to get any kind of transparency from him. They may be fine for Canadian taxes alone, but if you are looking for cross-border services, you may want to consider looking elsewhere.

While their tax services themselves are acceptable, and their prices are reasonable, their customer service is poor. They will constantly ask for information they already have and ask for the same things twice. I use them for personal and business taxes, and they will constantly confuse one business with another, or confuse my family with my business partner's family, which is very frustrating. They don't ever seem to remember a previous conversation, always providing what appear to be copy/paste answers and will quote you for services that you might have already paid for (I was quoted a new fee for tax advice when the retainer clearly says it includes tax advice for one year). Sometimes you get conflicting information from one person to the next. Ultimately, these things all speak to a very poor attention to detail which is very concerning and ultimately I will be looking for new accountants.

I had a great experience working with Jaxon Marcel at GTA Account. He was professional, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful throughout the entire tax process. Not recommended based on my experience. If you like CRA and IRS notices then do go with them.

I engaged this firm for my U.S. and Canadian personal tax filings. After following all their instructions and providing documents promptly, I ended up spending thousands of dollars on another CPA to correct and respond to multiple IRS/CRA notices that arose from the original filings.

Initially it has been extremely difficult to meet a qualified CPA in person. All my interactions have been over the phone or video calls with cameras off. When I visited their office, there was only an intern at the reception and no professional staff available to speak with me. This gave me the impression that most of the work is handled remotely with little in-person oversight.

Communication has been slow and impersonal, and important issues have lingered for months without proactive follow-up. Based on this experience, I would not recommend their services.

I have been using GTA’s services for tax filing for the past couple of years and it has been a great experience. I find them to be very thorough by providing a preliminary checklist with regards to any items that may affect tax returns such as child care and donations to make sure they have all grounds covered. They also make known all forms that need to be completed based on your individual tax situation. They have no trouble with out of province and cross border filing. We had the pleasure of having Morgan prep our returns. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient and responsive. I was impressed with the speed with which he setup our returns. He is also very patient and knowledgeable when it comes to answering any questions we have. I now approach the tax season with ease of my mind knowing I have their support. GTA and Morgan have my full recommendation.

This is my second year using GTAA for my taxes and I am very pleased with the results. I used to live in the USA and still own property that I rent out, so my taxes are a bit too complicated for me to do alone. GTAA have experts in cross-border accounting and they know how to make sure your taxes are done well - and to your benefit! I highly recommend them, especially if you have cross-border accounting needs. The accounting team is very responsive to emails and I was very impressed with how quickly they got my taxes together this year. The price is also very reasonable for the service that you get.
