Chez D59 was an Amazing and invigorating stay and experience. The reception area was extremely welcoming with a Champaign glass at arrival and a hot steamed face towel to shake if the first class air Canada lacklustre customer service. The receptionist was all smiles and welcome me with all the professional people skills commissionaires are known for. After a warm conversation I was escorted to my room and greeted with a swan towel on the bed. A list of exciting tasks followed. And a reminder that if steps were to be missed my boss would be alerted and actions taken( great to know they are helpful enough to set reminders for me) I was warned that upon leaving I would be expected to clean vacuum and tend to my room as well as changing my sheets. This is refreshing as in order to get the best service you should do it yourself. The bed and pillows were perfect. I hate fluffy and comfortable mattresses, it cradles you into thinking to world is a welcoming place and that comfort is expected. D59 has this wonderful optic that by giving you a plastic prison mattress it helps you remembering the world is not here to take care of you but you must take care of yourself to progress. A simple thing like a hard crimply mattress and flat noizy pillow helps you progress in life. The internet was nothing but amazing. After a week of fast speed entertainment and work related tasks it was cut off during the weekend reminding everyone that you should stay in and relax after a long week of work but go outside and walk around the beautiful base that is gagetown. Tv service riddled with the 75% advertisement and 25% entertainment was provided throughout if people still elected to stay in and relax. The restaurant was amazing as well, I especially loved the ritual “ clean your tray and plate yourself “ that reminded me that what I didn’t eat went to the garbage rather than feeding the poor. Such an amazing way to make you a more careful eater. Don t get me started on the spices and quality of ingredients provided. First class!
Toilets without fans and air vent were great are they helped you know when your body odours should be managed and things you eat have consequences.
Upon leaving and cleaning my room I reflected and was saddened that I shall not be back here until next time I was on a military course aimed at teaching me I have been led astray by a life of comfort and self entitlement and must strive to be “harder”. thank you D59 for making me a better person and soldier.
The room was at a nice and constant 27 degree Celsius with the window open and ceiling fan N/S to ensure you don’t sleep too much and lose some weight.
Oh I didn’t want to fail mentioning that without waking up every day with back-pain and neck-pain i would not have the much needed reminder that my body is in dire need of a masseuse and spa complex( planned to be built on base in the next 50 years by RP ops)
