I am sharing an email about my recent experience with Colwood Insurance Services.

Although I’m in the car business and am familiar with your products and services. I want to share with you from a consumer’s perspective. From the moment you answered my call, you were enthusiastic and upbeat, and you would have alleviated any stress or anxiety a customer may have had in my situation. Your readiness to assist and help is truly refreshing and assuring for me as a customer. I just want to say, “Thank you for such a wonderful and pleasant experience, Norma.”

Richmond Honda insurance broker set me up with this place along with icbc as a package.

GET OUT of this scam asap. They take 6-8 weeks to process collision and they will ask you to provide receipt / invoice / VIN and all that. Even if you provide, they still ask for more. In the end even if you get reimbursement youre left with higher monthly bill.

Also they wont provide depreciation unlike what broker tells you with paper when you try to sell your vehicle.

All you need to drive in BC is ICBC this place wont do anything but charge you $50 a month. Get out asap if youre associated.

I requested Colwood insurance for two deductible payments. After I had sent payment receipts and other documents, I called them to check the status of the payment and the staff named Alina answered the phone. I talked about the issues with the body shop, they refused to fix a couple of parts and my car hadn't been fully repaired even though it's already 5 months past.
After that, Alina emailed me and said that she would not pay me the deductible until the body shop finished all repair works.
I replied to her that I paid the deductible and ICBC also paid the body shop to fix my car. There’s no reason for Colwood to refuse to reimburse payment.
She replied and finally told me that my two deductible payments would be reimbursed but didn’t provide any apology at all.

The broker at Toyota Dealership signed me up with this company without mentioning that the policy was 5 years as oppose to the regular ICBC policy that is only good for 1 year. I renewed my ICBC policy after 1 year at a different broker. I was under the impression that Colwood policy would also expires after 1 year. I checked my bank account and realized that Colwood was still debiting from my account. I called them to complain about the issue. I asked them to stop the policy and reimburse the 3 extra months that they debited my account. They refused and said that it was my fault for not knowing that their policy is for 5 years. I would not recommend is company to anyone. It seems like a shady business enterprise.

My windshield cracked, I had it replaced and payed the deductible. Then contacted Colwood to make the deductible reimbursement claim. All was good, I would receive cheque in 10 days. A month goes by, I called and was told it must have slipped through the cracks, I'll receive the cheque in 10 days. 2 Weeks goes by, I go into Hub (who sold me the insurance) and was told Colwood was very busy, but I would receive the cheque in 10 days. 2 months later, and 3 different "10 days" and nothing. I am clearly not going to receive this $500. I give up, am cancelling insurance and will go with a more reputable company.

Update: I regrouped and didn't give up and finally received reimbursement chq! It only took 3 months, 3 office visits, numerous phone calls and emails. Changing star rating to 3 from 1 because even though it was probably the most ridiculous run around I've ever got, I did in the end receive the cheque.

Watch out for these crooks. Talked my wife into replacement cost insurance...I doubt they explained it very well. Also charged a $300 dealership fee. Oh well, u gotta live and learn with these greasy businesses. Stay clear of these criminals.

Shady business tactics. Called to cancel insurance twice when moving out of the province. Was told I could only cancel by contacting ICBC. So I cancelled through ICBC. When I later discovered that my insurance was not cancelled with the this broker, as I believed it was, I asked for reimbursement back to the date that I started insurance in my new province. Was denied because they never bothered to record my previous attempts to cancel. My mistake for not ensuring I had better evidence of attempts to cancel. But shame on them as they were provided proof of my change of residence and start of duplicate insurance in another province. Greedy, inconsiderate and unprofessional.

I cant say enough good things about this company.I submitted a claim for my deductable I had to pay a body shop.Within a couple of weeks I got my full refund for my deductable I paid. The couple of times I had to contact them on the phone I dealt with a young lady named Chantel.She was very polite,knowledgable,and a pleasure to deal with.I dont know how much you pay this lady Colwood, but will say she is a very valuable asset to your company.Maybe give her a pay raise,a pat on the back , and a thank you from me.Its nice to encounter such good customer service in these times!
