An extremely disappointing experience, I opened an account online which was easy and I transferred in 5k from an external account and was charged a $16 'handling charge' by BMO . When I went to the branch to enquire as to what the charge was for the teller said it was for wire transfers but couldn’t explain why or what the difference was between a wire transfer or any other transfer. She was also not able to tell me if it was a flat fee or a percentage and kept telling me that it wasn't her that was charging me, it was BMO (even though she is the paid representative of the bank). At the dismal 1.35% interest rate it will take 8+ months to recover the amount they took for literally doing nothing except receiving my funds which they loan out to make money from.

The teller I spoke with should probably be reassigned to a non-customer facing role if she isn't willing to represent BMO or find answers to customers questions.

BMO should also look at closing the branch entirely based on the poor service and reviews. It is such a beautiful building that would be much better utilised as a restaurant or shop.

I would love to berate BMO even more on the outrageous number of fees they have for every possible transaction, but it appears this is an issue with most Canadian banks exploiting their customers with petty fees rather than earning money the way banks are intended, by collecting and paying interest.

BMO Nelson, you need to do better.

Stay Away from ANN, the teller at sitting chair counter, u get misguided . She is unprofessional, waste ur time, argue with you , will not understand the legit customer issue,

First she said transaction will reflect in ur account in 2-3 days, after few minutes she flipped and saying its my fault .

Later on other bank staff, called me and understand the issue and promised issue is at the bank end. Thanks Pankaj and Mikelle.

Certainly, needs training , or shouldn't take matters if not trained in that zone, Nothing Personal but made my time hard and my kid too.

Solution- Fix ur Bmo app, train the employees, especially the tellers, so that they could put the customer on right track not dodge the customers.

While attending to family estate business I expressed interest in opening an account at the Nelson BMO and was told that I would need to make an appointment. It is a 2 hour round trip for me to attend an appointment and I was there attending an appointment. Slow to process TFSA distribution to beneficiaries. Somewhat disorganized.

I would strongly recommend shopping around for an alternative branch. My dealings with this branch have been extremely frustrating. I'm in a joint mortgage situation and this bank and branch is unfortunately used by my mortgage partner. From the inception of a simple mortgage process, it was fraught with delays, mistakes, lack of communication, and the list goes on on on. I'm so happy that my primary banking needs are not handled by this bank or this branch. My advice would be to shop around and find a bank and branch that offers basic good customer service and appreciates the business you are bringing to it.

Worst bank service within the 2 months period of time they deducted 50 dollars from my chequeing account with any information. I try to call then they shows always busy ... I don't understand why they doing this. Even they told it was free for 1 year.
This is not fair what they done.. last they deducted 15 dollars in the name of performance plan...so I stopped their going with other bank now I am feel ok with other bank service.

On multiple occasions, we've found the staff super friendly and helpful. Those that comment about long lines should really try seeing what it's like in other countries or bigger branches in large cities. I laughed out loud when someone mentioned that there are sometimes 5-7 people in line.

- This bank is a complete joke, I set up business accounts for my Auto shop, First it started with my banking App not allowing me to transfer money between my own accounts And I called the tech support line and no one returned my call , Then the Cheques I ordered for my shop didn't even have my company name on them at all it was all my own personal information, I specifically asked for my shops info on the order I did with my banking officer, Iv called multiple times and only gotten an answering machine that tells me, " we will get ahold of you by the end on the day '...... Well I'm 2 weeks later and NO one was called, not even my Personal banking officer Amanda Pearson whom iv tried calling multiple times and left messages , so I don't recommend this bank at all, Horrible customer service and no help was given to me, I will 110% be closing my accounts and never recommending anyone use this terrible bank EVER, because I have had nothing but trouble and grief since I opened my accounts, I seriously wish I had not closed my shop early and wasted my time costing me money to open an account where the bank obviously doesn't care about it's local small business . Any one can be friendly at a front desk, fixing a problem for a LOCAL business you wold think we be important since we all put money in to the town and help it thrive,

Phoned this 8 times on an urgent matter only to get a voice mail. Not like they have all my money or anything? Remind me how much profit they earned last year....897 Million Dollars 2011 according to BMO share search. And they can't afford a receptionist? Wow Next Move - Credit Union because they share profits amongst their members and give members real service.
