I have been working with Dave Johnson for my insurance for nearly 5 years now. From tenant insurance, travel insurance, and auto coverage, I have received amazing service. Dave has always worked hard to find a policy that fits my needs and budget and with great personal service that always leaves me feeling well taken care of. On a more personal note, I grew up with a lot of family who were in the insurance business and who have now passed on. When I'm talking with Dave it takes me back to those days and I'm grateful I found such an amazing broker to work with.

I first met Matthew when assisting my son to find a rental insurance policy - my son worked with him for years and found him to always be helpful and responsive. When I had a bad policy renewal experience with my own broker for our existing properties (missed documents going to junk mail from an automated site with no way to renew until a software bug fix was completed), Matthew was able to quote new policies quickly and efficiently, turning a very stressful experience into a positive one. He really did save the day. He even replied to my panicked email over a long weekend - something I did not expect.

In this day and age, with automated systems causing things to fall into through cracks, it's nice to know that some companies still have personal oversight without losing that efficiency. I recommend Matthew without hesitation.

We have been with Matthew Ball at BIG Guelph for our insurance needs for about five years now and could not be happier with our experience. I used to dread dealing with insurance matters but Matt makes everything so easy! Anything we need, he is on it right away—no headache required. You can just feel that you are being valued as a real person here. We once experienced a delay in processing a change with our auto insurance company and I resigned myself to the fact that we would lose a few months of payments. Not only did Matt fix the problem on the very same day it was discovered, but he made sure we did not lose a dime (without me even asking for his assistance with that). I rarely leave negative reviews, but this is worthwhile to write about. I really don’t know how this company has so many five star Google reviews. I suspect they are all paid for.

I just cancelled with this company today after my terrible experience dealing with Matthew. I totally understand that mistakes happen. I had asked him to update my banking a few months ago, but it was not done correctly so the policy was cancelled! They did make it right by paying for it (I mean it was their mistake anyways), however, they failed to resume payments so a large amount of money was taken out of my account without notification. When I contacted Matthew about this and let him know that I was dissatisfied, his response was “if you don’t like it here, then go to a different office”. Essentially telling me to pound sand. I have never experienced such terrible customer service. He was so comfortable saying it which leads me to believe that it’s something he says regularly. I asked to speak with a manager and shocker, he is the manager.

I could have lived with the fact that the banking issues happened… Or not being able to reach Matthew on the phone 9 out of 10 times that I’ve called in… But the fact he told me I should have to go to a different office to have my insurance handled correctly is absolutely shocking.

Billyard may reply to this comment, somehow justifying all of their actions. If you’re reading this review for customer opinions, though, know that I would not use this brokerage again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
