Here we are again! The trip from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert is one of the most scenic. Filled with views of the Pacific Northwest, whale watching.. at least 20, relaxing. From here we head to YuKon & NWT.

I didn't realize you can't sleep in your car on an overnight ferry. But I became rudely aware of this fact after I passed on booking a sleeper cabin. I understand why though! It only takes one idiot running their engine for warmth to poison everyone else in a closed deck.

BC Ferries is apparently keeping you safe by discouraging homelessness through the inclusion of HARD ARM RESTS on their seats. Thrifty travellers have nowhere to lay their weary bones once they board this vessel. So I took a page from the many folks who camped out with mattress pads and sleeping bags on the floor. One fella even had an inflatable mattress for him and his kids! He's probably done this sailing many times. Fortunately, I had bedding easily accessible in my vehicle, so I could sleep on the floor for $211 too. Some pale tourists came down to gawk at us peasants before returning to their overpriced cabins, so that was a nice and degrading distraction from the situation.

Ditto the staff. I take a fair share of ferries and the smaller they are, the better the staff. It's always hit and miss on bigger sailings with longer cross times. They employ some people who seem to hate people? Maybe it's just "certain" people they don't like. But I've been me in the country long enough to be used to ignorance.

On this sailing from Prince Rupert to Haida Gwaii anyone with melanin was super helpful to me and showed me where I could hang out, or welcomed me to the ship (clearly seeing it was my first time on this overnight crossing). The cauc-ky cafeteria guys couldn't stop chatting with each other long enough to sell me a coffee. They just processed my transaction with as little acknowledgment of my existence as they could (one yokel was just a staff GETTING HIMSELF A COFFEE talking to the guy working cash). At least a medium coffee was only $3. Oh and you can't smoke anything anywhere. But you can buy booze? Reeeeeal nice.

Must be tough times when you can't care about your customers unless they pay you enough to eh?

BC Ferries is always complaining about money, maybe other companies should start offering services and let them retire?

Helpful staff. Terminal allows overnight RV parking in a locked/gated waiting area for a few of $22.

Note however, that we were denied access to the RV waiting area. We had a 10:30 am sailing to Skidegate the following morning. The reason we were denied was there was an earlier sailing (6:30 am) to Port Hardy, which generally alternates days. We were told you can only use the overnight RV area if you are the first morning sailing of the following day!

There is a secondary road near the terminal where many people pull over and park overnight. We stayed there instead. Note that it's pretty loud with industry and ferry traffic, though free!

It's a beautiful route and comfortable seats. I suggest paying the extra to sit in the Aurora lounge as the seats recline more and have leg rests. You will have a better view as well since you are at the front.

A larger selection of food in the cafeteria would be a bonus. There is a buffet as well,
but it's not always open.

There is a shower (1 each) for $5, and they supply towels, soap, and shampoo. The water is hot and plentiful.

Trabajan bien pero se toman su tiempo. Cuando estaba aquí esperando el ferry me llego este video de Ceci Stocco cantando una rola mía en Argentina y me avisaron que iba a tocar en fall fair y no pude más de la alegría, venía de tocar en kisspiox y todo muy amoroso. Muchas gracias vuelvan pronto.

It was alright. It wouldn't kill them to get a coffee cart or even an automated machine so weary travelers can get a hot drink at the 6am designated arrival time.

As for the ship, again, meh. I was really looking forward to the buffet and though apparently it has been closed for several years, there is no mention of that on the bcferries website so we're left to learn this lesson the hard way.

Camping at ferry terminal before early morning departure the next day . Super clean facility , super friendly workers . Highly recommended compared to the campground 2 km down the road . Thank you BC Ferries/ Prince Rupert Terminal for an excellent stay .

2 Stunden vor Abfahrt Einchecken, ansonsten verliert man den Buchungsanspruch, finde ich nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Organisation der Zufahrtslanes war aus meiner Sicht Chaos. Pünktlichkeit bei Abfahrt und Ankunft der Fähre hat Verbesserungspotential.
