One of the standout aspects of the Trading Post is its commitment to supporting local and Canadian Indigenous communities. They purchase beading directly from the Stoney Nakoda First Nations, ensuring authenticity and fair support for artisans. If you enjoy beadwork, they also sell seed beads and other stones.

REASONABLE PRICES & GREAT SELECTION

The store carries a range of items, including clothing, slippers, sweaters, caps, sweatshirts, and T-shirts, all at reasonable prices. Whether you’re looking for a meaningful keepsake or a warm sweater for the mountain air, you’ll likely find it here.

UNIQUE HANDCRAFTED ITEMS

Over the years, I’ve purchased earrings, a leather wallet, knitted wool socks, gloves, necklaces, to name a few of the items. The shop showcases an impressive collection of handiwork from various Indigenous tribes, making each visit an opportunity to discover something new.

CONVENIENT LOCATION & FRIENDLY SERVICE

Parking is free for up to two hours, making it easy to stop by without stress. The staff, especially Emilio and Ray, were friendly, courteous, and helpful, making the shopping experience more worthwhile. If you have the opportunity, it will be worthwhile to take a few moments to chat with them and learn more about this wonderful shop!

If you want souvenirs that are of quality, authentic, and made by indigenous communities then this is the place to be. It is pricey but it’s understandable because what they sell are not those that are mass produced in China. There are many options to choose from, whether it be clothing, accessories, artworks, and etc. The staff members when I visited on 10/13/24 were not welcoming to me, but other than that 5⭐️.

I have shopped at this little trading post since I was a little girl granted it’s gotten bigger over the years if you’re looking for a Banff souvenir or indigenous artwork and handcrafted items this is your place. The staff is super friendly and it has an old-time trading post to it, I recommend you drop by it has lots of history.

Found by Norman Luxton in 1903, The Trading Post has been ongoing for 118 years. The Luxton family were the original founders from 1903 to 1961.
