When dealing with insurance companies can be a pain sometimes, I find Alberta blue cross customer service team makes it a very seemless and painless experience.
I work in the optical industry and we have called Alberta blue cross with questions re: claim processing or on behalf of a patient . They have all always been professional, courteous and helpful! I try my best to tell them how they did an awesome job helping me out at the end of the call.

Their website is also the easiest to navigate through and has the least amount of glitches and errors.

Through work I've never had blue cross benefits. However if I were to go to private benefits, I'd consider blue cross mainly because of the pleasant experience I've had each time with their customer support.

As someone who truly values customer service and support I wish I could thank their team in person for all that they do.

This review is based on their customer service. I had an issue where my coverage was being declined at a dentist so I contacted Blue Cross to ask what was happening. The woman on the other end claimed that they had no information on my account that they could look up and said that the dentist would have to call their "provider" to ask what the issue was. I asked who she was talking about when she said provider and she continued to use the same term repeatedly without explaining what that actually meant. After 15 minutes of word salad I couldn't take it any more and went around her by contacting MY provider and letting the dentist know that Blue Cross wasn't helpful. I was in the middle of writing a legal letter to Blue Cross when I heard back from the dental clinic - they had managed to contact Blue Cross - who suddenly DID have access to my coverage information - and it turns out they goofed and put in some wrong information on my account. They fixed it on the spot within seconds. This is MY coverage mind you. Another pitiful Alberta service that could be gutted from the ground up and we'd all be better off for it. I don't know what the alternatives are but know what you're in for when dealing with these clowns.

I was with Manulife while working at another company. Never had any issues. Blue Cross and trying to get reimbursed for Health Spending account has been more painful than having a root canal. Manulife reimbursed after 2 days of submission and required way less documentation. I haven’t used any of my other benefits from Blue Cross so they are benefiting from my benefits yet they won’t reimburse my HSA.

For 2 years i had largely avoided calling Blue Cross preferring to avoid the frustration caused by long wait times to speak to an agent. This negative perception changed yesterday and i was not only through to an agent right away but was provided with excellent service and valuable advice. My specific situation required the involvement of another agent, Kimberly Brown, who in addition to her charming professionalism, took it upon herself to escalate my case there and then and in so doing provided me with a very pleasing outcome.
In a day and age when so many companies subject their clients to the poor standards of third world call centers, it is such a pleasure to see Alberta Blue Cross staff their customer support with such pleasant, professional and capable individuals.
