I have auto and tenants insurance with Allstate. I tried calling multiple times to get a quote on a new vehicle and waiting on hold multiple times for 30-45 minutes. I thought I'd go up to the office to get a quote in person and there was no one there that could help me. I was told I could go to the conference room and dial direct to their 1-800 number, or wait until next week until someone was back in the office.

I'm paying $1000 a year for tenant insurance, and when I called around to get quotes from other agencies I was quoted $275-300/year for better coverage than what Allstate offers.

I updated my payment info with them last year after moving to a new bank. They changed the info on my auto policy but not my tenants policy. They then threatened to cancel my policy and I was stuck with NSF fees from my bank. They did fix the issue but never refunded my NSF payments even though it was their error.

I would avoid Allstate if you want to talk to a real person or get any sort of customer service.

Phone wait times are absolutely insane. As I write this review it's been 36 minutes on hold without speaking to anyone at all. Also, due to unforeseen expenses, I knew I was going to miss a payment so I called to push back the payment to avoid problems with allstate and the banks NSF fees. I was told there was nothing they could do and I was forced to pay the NSF fees on top of the stress of missing a payment. They kept saying "it's just a software there's nothing we can do". A while back I had financing through long and mquade and they could move a payment no problem, so maybe they need better software. The customer service is 50/50. Half being polite but unable to help, the other half rude and unable to help with anything. I will be switching providers come renewal season.

Completely unprofessional and rude. I would recommend never signing any policies with Allstate.

They owe my significant other over $1000 and are not answering phone calls or emails, she had to go there herself multiple times to figure out this issue and it still isn’t resolved.

Agent Shauna Carriere claimed that documents were “lost in the shuffle” and that an email must have “got lost in cyber space”. She alluded to that fact that she was too busy to deal with this unacceptable situation. She gave my significant other an email address spelled incorrectly to send confidential documents and then claimed she did nothing wrong and put the responsibility on us. They are now claiming they won’t even look at the documents necessary to end our policy for another 5 days, despite having stopped the policy in May and been dealing with this situation since then.

Completely unacceptable, and considering legal action due to the amount of unprofessionalism, rudeness, and overall apathy towards customer service.

Go literally anywhere else and you’ll get a better policy rate and better service.

I just called to get a quote...I was tired of dealing with automated quotes and online sites that can't answer questions. I was put in touch with Lisa and honestly her attentive help and warm attitude towards customer service has pretty much decided where I will be getting my insurance from....also the quote was right in line with what I wanted...exactly what I was looking for! Just head and shoulders above my last insurance provider!
