I have been very fortunate to have wonderful staff supporting me or my loved ones when I have had to go to the hospital. I can only imagine what these dedicated nurses, doctors and staff observe on a daily basis. I always do my best to add positivity and have purchased treats for staff during different times throughout my life at this hospital. I have not had an unpleasant experience and for the most part, this hospital is clean and welcoming. The volunteers who show up each day are sweethearts who are very helpful. I appreciate having a facility in my community with dedicated staff who want what is best for their patients. I am overjoyed when I hear about grants or donations received as we are in desperate need of updating equipment, opening new supports or clinics, assisting resident students with their studies, providing supplies to nurses, doctors and staff or improving areas of concerns. My hope is that this facility will attract more outstanding nurses, doctors, staff and funding. Thank you for all that you do for our community!

With her consent, I wanted to say thank you Lori Linehan - you are an amazing individual who is a wonderful and thoughtful nurse ♥️

Wait time was absolutely unacceptable. Went into emerge (estimated time rose from just under two hours to nearly three in the time we were here) and didn't even see another section of the hospital for nearly four hours. To be perfectly honest I'm writing this review while still sitting in emerge, awaiting any semblence of a bed or a room for a girl coughing up blood; which goes to show just how positively I feel about the experience. Even the underfunded, understaffed "hospital" from the small town I come from puts this to shame; this is just sad.

I gave birth at PHRC last March. My c-section team was great. Dr Grisdale was my OB, after leaving two OB's care, I found her and I couldn't say enough wonderful things about her. Dr Windrim was my anaesthesiologist and was absolutely fantastic. These two made this experience a lot less stressful and had outstanding communication.
Most of our post natal care was great.

We did however on the first night have what I would consider less than adequate care. Our night nurse whom name I still have not received from the hospital provided next to no post partem care, I had my c section that morning... and was hours late on bringing in pain relief.

The following night I had requested pain medication that I had not received since the afternoon. The nurse was clearly annoyed I had asked twice and instead brought Ativan in a cup and told me it was pain medication. I let her know I was aware what this medication was and was very upset she would attempt to give me something without consent. She didn't return to our room for the remainder of the evening and my partner had to help with c-section care which should of been handled by a nurse due to complications. In the morning I was prompted to file a complaint after speaking with the charge nurse. Other nurses on the unit insinuated this was not the first time this had happened with this night nurse and apologized. We left a day early despite the staffs reccomendations, nervous we would have this nurse again. I have followed up twice and have not received any feedback from the hospital. This is considered malpractice and should be addressed. Very upsetting PHRC hasn't addressed this, post partem is such a vulnerable time for mothers and the care we receive is important. Posting here so others are aware.

Everyone else was truly amazing. So supportive and helpful.

My daughter has been in and out of Cobourg's ER the past 3 weeks. While at our vacation property in Peterborough her abdominal pain continued. Sooo off to Peterboroughwe went. The check in went well. Then triage nurse down right rude. Made it seem like we should not be at this hospital. Great start.... so we enter blue zone wait a few hrs do a pee test and blood work. My kiddo has had x-rays, ultrasounds been on stool softners, doing suppositories, taking restoralax for weeks
She now wants to give up eating and drinking. Her system was 100% blocked with poop 10 days ago and she is still in extreme pain.
What gives? Rather than waiting 5+hrs to be told she is still constipated do a damn CT scan or MRI look at her organs. So disappointing. I would rather take out a loan and pay for Healthcare than have to deal with getting nowhere!
Last time we will come here. May just have to take the advice of others and make the trek to Toronto!
Are there no nurse practioners here? Reading us the useless test results that were done hrs ago is the least they can do..
Another wasted ER visit it seems!

Everyone I encountered was very pleasant and attentive. I went in a few days ago for a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and trimming of the lining of my nasal passages. The staff who helped me to my operating room were very helpful and professional. The surgeons made going into the procedure easy with their excellent tableside manner. The recovery room nurses who took care of me for 3 hours were friendly and attentive and made sure I was comfortable the whole time until my mom came to get me. A huge thank you to Dr. Conlin, Sarah from the recovery room, and everyone else who helped me that day.

Last night, the Friday of a long weekend, I needed to attend the ER not for emergency care but for urgent care. Upon arrival I was processed through the triage process quickly and efficiently and once I was determined not to be an emergency situation, I was placed in the queue. To be sure it was a busy evening/night, and I anticipated a long night. From my arrival to departure it was about 10 hours. Certainly longer than I anticipated but not entirely unreasonable. I am not sure what issues brought the other people to the ER last night; however, I am sure their concerns were equally as important as mine and in some cases more important. I do know that when it became “my time” to be attended too I had the undivided attention of the doctor /nurse who was with me, and I was their primary concern. The care and treatment I received was at an exceptionally high level, comparable to the care I have received for the same issue at other health care facilities. The problems are systemic and not the result of uncaring staff. Remember, the person providing medical assistance to you in your time of need is doing the best they can within the resources available to them. Thank you to the staff working the overnight shift May 17th, you made a difference.

Get a second opinion at another hospital and trust your instincts. This hospital missed diagnosing a fistula for 6 months and even took me into surgery to repair another area. I should have had a pelvic CT in June; I should have been referred to a colorectal specialist sooner; I should have been believed and examined more throughly when I kept retuning to the ER with symptoms consistent with a fistula. Egregious oversights by multiple doctors has left me with little faith in this institution. The nurses and staff are lovely and caring, but the system is broken.

Friday of a long weekend I had to go in. The wait to see a Doctor was incredibly long, but once I did get seen the care I got was amazing. The nurses were great even tho they were run off their feet and the Dr I saw paid very close attention to my complaints ordered tests and got my results.
