My wife & I became a client of Michael’s just over a year ago. After finally having no mortgage, and no kids in university, we finally had saved some $ to invest. We are novice investors, so Michael explained all options, helped us top up our TFSA option and guided us through picking a modest investment.
At the time, we told Michael that I would be retiring in 2022, and that I had 4 pension funds from work, and not yet decided, but cashing out these funds, was the way I was leaning.
In the summer of 2022, Michael contacted myself, to see where I was at. My retirement was this past Thanksgiving, but due to taxes, nothing was to happen till January 2023. Prior to January we meet several times with Michael. Michael took the lead to work directly with my company’s HR rep, to get the paper work filled out properly, and also with Manulife reps.
Over the past 2 weeks of January, with Michael’s help, over a million dollars has been transferred into BMO funds. Michael has guided us, explained all, I now have RRSP, GIC, Money Market funds, all where myself and my wife feel comfortable, with these investment options. We finished up the last transfer at a meeting Thursday at 5pm.
I can not thanks Michael enough, his guidance, his knowledge, his presentation, his way of explaining every detail of each investment. Although I worked with numbers (accounting) most of my working life, the complexity of transferring out 4 pension funds, and investing them, was way beyond my ability. Without Michael, I would have been lost.
Bottom line, Michael’s friendly and knowledgeable approach, has given myself a reassurance that I did the right thing. Not at anytime did I feel pressured to make a quick decision, nor did I feel I was talking with the wrong person.
