I was a client of Oguzhan’s for 18 years. I started with him in my mid twenties when I was not very knowledgeable about investments. He is more of a sales person than a financial advisor. He convinced me in my twenties that I needed a whole life insurance policy. When I purchased a house in my thirties he convinced me to get another life insurance policy instead of mortgage insurance then tried convincing me to convert that into a whole life insurance policy. I believe he gets a kick back on every life insurance policy he sells. He also sold my partner critical illness insurance but didn’t inform him at the time that the rate would double at a certain age. In terms of my investments, I expressed concern over the last few years that some of my investments were not performing as expected. When I started investing with him he told me that my money should double in 10 years. That didn’t happen. In fact, some of my investments averaged less than 5% interest over 10 years (for example my RRSP account was 4.55% since inception despite having a medium/ high risk tolerance ). When I asked about making adjustments to my portfolio he refused and stated “I do NOT chase performance”. This makes zero sense as I was paying him to grow my money. Things came to a head when I wanted to withdraw a small amount of my money to put into a GIC that had a rate of 5% over 5 years. Instead of facilitating my request he fired me as a client because he doesn’t believe in GICs (I assume this is because he doesn’t make any money off them). My partner and I have since switched our portfolios over to Investia Winnipeg and we are seeing much better performance than we ever got with Oguzhan. They have also done financial planning for retirement with us which Oguzhan never did. On top of the unprofessional way he responded to my request to transfer money, I also found him to be unprofessional at times during our annual reviews. He would go on rants about how much he loves Trump and how much he hates banks. It made me really uncomfortable and I eventually stopped going for in person meetings and requested phone appointments instead. I should have left him a long time ago but I am a person who values loyalty, something he clearly doesn’t care about.

I've been working with Oguzhan for a few years now and would definitely recommend using him as your financial advisor. He is very pleasant to deal with and straight forward about the realities of investing!
