This ranch is fabulous! We stayed with our kids and it was a Godsend to have so much to do here to break up the road trip! Our toddler loved the animals (he even helped let the chickens out and feed them) and the campfire at night. Hospitality is more than 100%. I personally loved the outdoor kitchen where everyone shared the space to prepare their food. As a social camper, this was the ideal setting for me - always people around and shared activities you can choose to be a part of, lots to explore, friendly host who is present and there to engage with visitors, and a beautiful, tranquil setting to relax. 100% recommend!! (would add photos but our phone broke at the end of the trip! ps. meant to leave this review sooner but better late than never!)

This ranch had everything that we were looking for and a few things we didn't know we wanted. The accommodations were very interesting, clean and comfortable. They were almost at full vacancy but it never felt crowded. The covered kitchen was extremely handy, since we didn't need to bring any cooking or eating utensils, and all the guests were great about cleaning up after themselves. The owners were extremely kind and welcoming and there for everything we needed. They were also great at bringing the guests together around the fire at night. We don't usual engage in the social aspects of places like this, but Jeff was great at making us feel welcome and comfortable with the guests we didn't know. Once we did meet the others, it made the ranch that much more homey feeling since we now knew some of the other guests. We will definitely be coming back and bringing more family along with us as this would be a great spot for a group family vacation, as well as just on your own. The proximity to the stables (a 5 minute walk) was also excellent for our daughter (2 going on 3 yrs old). We paid 15 for the pony ride and got way more than we expected. This was a great addition to our stay.

Discovered the ranch through Harvest Hosts - we stayed 1 night in our camper van in a nice private spot with a picnic table and fire pit to use. The hosts were so generous, they let us use all the shared facilities (shower, bathroom, kitchen, community fire pit) and even helped us fill our water tank! Really lovely camp ground and convenient short drive from the ferry terminal. Highly recommend! Thanks Jeff and Billy-Joe for a wonderful stay!

Wow! What an awesome experience! The owners are so personable and nice and it’s clear they put their heart and soul into the place.
The little wagon bunking was adorable, we loved seeing and petting all the animals and sitting around the campfire singing listening to the guitar.

We initially planned on staying one night, but after our first night we decided we loved it here so much, we extended our stay another night!

This place is a little slice of heaven, lots of animals around (dogs, chickens, goats, sheep, short walk to horses, bunnies, donkeys...), a great full outdoor covered kitchen, clean washrooms and shower, and nightly community campfire!! We had a blast singing tunes with Jeff both evenings we stayed, Billy Jo and Jeff are truly wonderful people with lots of positive energy to share. We look forward to coming back soon!

My husbad and I had the pleasure of staying at The Kicking Mule Ranch on our way to the South Baymouth Ferry terminal. The location was perfect and Jeff, the host, couldn't have been nicer! Upon arrival we were greated by Jeff, his dog and multiple chickens. A short walk to the stables and more surprises awaited us! Resident horses, donkeys and mules were eager to say hello. But wait! There were bunnies of all shapes, colors and sizes bouncing about. Fun! The location was quiet and remote. The night sky and stars were amazing!
The sites were level and private. Available for guests to use were restrooms, showers, laundry facilities and a very well provisioned kitchen. The host even provided a bon fire and played his guitar for entertainment. I love all things great and small and to my delight and surprise one of his resident chickens, a small female named Popcorn jumped into my lap for a quick snuggle. Before we left the next morning a hot pot of freshly brewed coffee was waiting in the group kitchen for our enjoyment. Just perfect!!

We had a great time staying here while on Manitoulin! Jeff, the host, was super accommodating and welcoming. The ranch had a very rustic feel while still being comfortable and having all the amenities. Perfect place for campfires and star gazing. We stayed in the tipi, would recommend!

My husband and I stayed her for one night in May. The host and venue were amazing. Jeff is an amazing host and makes you feel right at home. The amenities, including the bathroom, were very clean! Will definitely be coming back to Kicking Mule Ranch!
