Budget Car Rental - Fredericton, NB

Dirty car, inside-out.
Traces of poorly washed exterior. Mud streaks definetly not cause by me since I never left pavement.
Somebody cough on the dashboard and there was a bunch of snot streaks on the speedometer.
Digital screen and likely all interior surfaces were wiped with a dirty rag, making them covered with filth.
Windshield so dirty it was difficult to drive at night or in direct sunlight.
Digital screen defective, some touch didn't register unless leaving a finger on them for a while and pressing hard.
They block $500 on credit card, that's not mentioned anywhere when you reserve the car.
Of course, even if you return the car at 9:30, they have no staff onsite so no way to complain.
If there's really a car shortage, they should have more time per car to clean them and one would expect they can afford the staff to do so and ensure the staff does its job correctly.

Rental car smelled if smoke.
Also, don’t extend your date or time of rental until you have the car already. If you make changes after you have the car, your rate will be honoured. Unfortunately I had to waste lots of time with Customer support to followup for a promised refund.

Agent in Fredericton was good.

I have used Budget in the Fredericton airport three times in the past 8 months and the staff are always super friendly and helpful. My last visit I got a free upgrade from a sedan to an SUV! Will continue to use Budget for sure.

Poorest service ever experiencd.
Dirty, stinky car. Found 12 dents and scratched not shown on paper work. Tried to get another car after returning it and was told none available. Rented one from Avis next morning.....SAME DIRTY CAR! Came with paper eork showing no scratches or dents again. Front tire had ELEVEN PSI in it. How unsafe can you get?
Mngr told me they tell people there are no cars even when there are. Letters will be sent.

Rented a van that was dirty, had garbage in it, and needed an oil change. Other than that the van was okay and drop off was easy until I realized they charged me over $800 a few days later. Budget tried telling me I drove over 2,000kms and that’s what the extra charge was for. Guy on phone was trying to bully me into accepting these charges and only looked into it more when I said I would be submitting a chargeback through my bank. Then suddenly he found out what the problem was and refunded me… he was extremely rude the entire time and insinuated I was lying multiple times.
If you are going to rent a vehicle through budget make sure you get a photo of the starting odometer as well as photos of the interior and exterior.

Would suggest any other car rental place. This place discriminated against my Indigenous father and denied him a car, they went above that and called other car rental locations and told them to also deny him. They assumed he would “smoke” in the car, mind you my father does not smoke!
Such a horrible experience, this company should be re-evaluated and focus on how to create people regardless of identity.
