Dr Ceri Strating (Aug04, 2021) mental health strange personality, goes after what "loved one" report to her, takin it at face value. I requested saw her again ( Oct 14, 2021) to check on who contacted RoadsafetyBC to revoke my DL which she denied. Arguing with her regarding the sbsttantiation "loved ones" reporting. She claimed I was threatening her, yet I left her office at her request claiming having another appointment. She became quite frightened and agitated as I argued peacefully with her. She is not fit to deal with normal people, let alone, mentally affected ones. Think again before accepting her as a mental health provide, most likely. she disturbs your mental health

My most recent visit to MH & A was because the Sechelt Emergency ward was discriminating against me for walking in with a cane, and in distress. My human rights were violated and I was upset, I asked the Er for a social worker from MH & A, for 5 days while I tried to get help, and got none. Then I physically went to MH & A to talk to Dr. Watson, she yold me "I'm sure nobody was discriminating against you" as if she would know better not being there herself? No she is also discriminating against me, assuming she knows better than I do? Even though she refused to diagnose me with a Condition I have dealt with since adolescents because she said doctors would discriminated against me, so instead she made up a diagnosis, that I am now experiencing discrimination for, regardless of her "good intentions ."

I asked the social workers to come to the ER because I'm being discriminated against snd feel u safe, they refused and insisted I volunteer to go back to the same abusive hospital for multiple days on the psych ward, yo gst help for inflammation? without my emotional support dog. Shannon would not take no for an answer, even after I asked her to stop pushin the idea she old say no, I have to. Even though I said it's insulting g to be offered psych ward for Inflammation that was not being treated at the ER.

Chris offered yo go to the Er, said he'd call by the end of the day March 7th I think l, still waiting for that phone call.

This place needs a less archaic Dr and staff who are not abusive? Competent staff would be great, hire those types next time.

Every person I’ve spoken to this week has been so helpful, and kind. Even though they’re only offering walk in services, I still felt seen, heard, and remembered by someone I’ve never even met. 10/10 experience, worth reaching out.

Been 3 times(non violent) first time they left me waiting in emergency for 6 hours in crisis. Second and third time, the nurses just kept us on a schedule and fed us, the doc came in once a day for a few minutes and that's it. I didn't receive any help, I didn't see any other patients receive any help. I don't think anybody there really does anything, just hand out meds and gossip inside their windowed room, I struggle alone now

As a Mental Health client of over twenty years on the Sunshine Coast I have developed an understanding of how MH Services provides care here in this community...

At one time, the hospital was not equipped to handle even the most minor of psychiatric medical emergencies. There was no department to handle crisis as it more than often arose... Families were forced to make the very difficult decision to either suffer with nearly nothing in the way of support blindly trust institutions like forensics in Colony Farms or Riverview for what was very often an internment where loved ones vanished for years before they could be rescued...... Traumatized kin brought home, were faced with the inadequate local system that failed to ensure continuity of care inevitably resulting in the patient becoming unmanageable and in turn being sent back to Vancouver....

Today, there is the problem of VCH/Providence Health who imposed the dangerous plan for the Sunshine Coast to acommidate Sumac Place, which is the 28 bed mental asylum in Gibson's... Sumac Place ships in patients from other health authorities while the local clientel lose out on what should have been a semi-independent out patient opportunity... I have luckily been tolerated by the Sechelt locals and remain at large... Some of my friends say the care is so bad for them that they fear for their sanity while turnover in staff at Mental Health leaves them dealing with cold indifferent tourist like Psychiatrists and a burned out petty outreach worker....
