I am writing to express my deep concern and dissatisfaction with the current labour strike at Manitoba Public Insurance that commenced on August 28th. The strike has not only affected thousands of Manitobans but has also had a profound impact on my personal and professional life.

One of the primary purposes of insurance is to provide peace of mind to policyholders in times of distress. However, during this strike, I experienced the opposite. After an unfortunate incident, I was left without a vehicle and faced delays in processing my claim due to the strike. My auto loss of use was rendered meaningless as there was no one available to process claims or register my injuries in a timely manner.

Furthermore, when I was finally able to obtain a replacement vehicle after being carless for over a month, there were additional delays and hurdles as no personnel were available to verify the cheque.

These setbacks, combined with the lack of a backup plan or any tangible consideration for Manitobans during this time, has been immensely frustrating and unsettling. It's not just the inconvenience but also the safety and mental well-being of individuals like myself that has been compromised. Being unable to navigate through everyday tasks, from getting to work to attending medical appointments, without a vehicle in a society that heavily relies on personal transportation is, to say the least, distressing.
