McCaw's have provided funeral services for our family for over 50 years. The McCaw's and their staff truly make a difficult time as comfortable and easy as possible. It has been a pleasure working with them recently with Mom's funeral as well as Dad's funeral 2 years ago.

When my father passed away in February 2017. He wanted to be cremated. The McCaw Crematorium is located north of Lloydminster and I live further north. Every day I drive by the crematorium and I did not want to feel upset everytime I drove by there. Brett McCaw offered me to be present when they would start cremating my dad. I did not want my dad to be alone so I went. Brett and I chatted for a bit and when it was time he allowed me to place my finger on top of his and we started the process together. As I was leaving to go home it was as if a huge weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. I felt at peace and was so happy to have been there for my dad. I arrived home and made some of his favorite cookies, chocolate chip.

Would be 0 stars if I could. This company is taking advantage of families during trying times. They are the only funeral home in town so the gouge people to the extreme. We had our loved one brought to the city for a quarter of the price, better service, TRANSPORT from Lloyd to Edmonton, and STILL ended up with a huge bill from this company. The bill we received from McCaws was added to our bill with the Funeral Home in Edmonton and the bill from McCaws is literally HALF of the funeral expenses we have to pay. Outrageous. While I understand there are costs incurred from picking up from the hospital and housing remains, the amount we were charged was so out to left field that the home we chose to deal with apologized to us on McCaws behalf. Sad.

The funeral director Donald Legoffe should not be allowed to handle the passing of anyone’s loved one. For a business who has the opening statement of being caring and compassionate doesn’t hold true having this person dealing with a loved ones passing. When my daughters went to pick up their dad’s ashes, Mr. Legoffe met them with the urn he laughs and says “ oh he’s still warm”. This comment is neither caring nor compassionate and completely disgusting coming from the funeral director. Who in their right mind would say this to the daughters of the deceased.
The cremation box was a complete joke, the plywood looked like it was cut with a hand saw as it was cut crooked leaving the joints with gaps, they couldn’t line the rope handle up and ended up having an extra hole drilled in. And then charge a ridiculous amount for such an embarrassing last moment with our loved one.
Hopefully some of the other funeral directors know the meaning of caring and compassionate otherwise I am sorry for anyone who is dealing with the death of a loved one and then have to deal with Donald Legoffe and a funeral home who is disrespectful, rude, heartless and only has an interest in the dollar amount.

Any funeral these guys are in charge of is run smoothly and respectfully. They are always friendly and impeccably dressed. This is the only place my family, including aunts and uncles, will ever use. Repeat family customers.
