Our son is in grade 2 French Immersion. His reading skills, both in English and French are very rudimentary and we were struggling to help him progress. Teaching him both languages, as parents that are not teachers, was beyond our abilities to help and we were starting to feel defeated and overwhelmed. After reaching out to Deborah at Sylvan we immediately had a plan and someone on our side that understood our situation. She was able to nail down exactly the kind of help our son needed and lay out a plan to get him reading and writing in english. It’s been about 6 weeks and the difference is already very evident in our son’s reading, comprehension, and writing. We are still working with him in French (this is our project - not something Sylvan offers), but having to only focus on one thing ourselves has been like a giant weight off our shoulders and much of what he is learning at Sylvan is contributing to his improvements at school in both languages. He is always so excited to go to Sylvan and learn more and excitedly tells us all about what he is working on after each session. If you are on the fence about getting you child some extra help - reach out to Deborah and get started sooner than later. Your child will thank you and that big weight you are lugging around on your back will fall away and you can stop stressing so much about your kids studies.

At the beginning of last summer my husband and I felt that our oldest daughter needed some guidance with her study skills and to work more on reading comprehension. We had her assessed and she reluctantly committed to go three times a week for all summer and then we’d see what the new school year would be like. It’s the best decision we’ve ever made! The team at Sylvan has helped her gain the confidence and understanding that she was missing and she has exceeded all expectations in half the time we thought she would need!! With their guidance and her determination she has become a better listener, she is less frustrated and wants to learn! And she’s only on Grade 8! Surprisingly, she is even fine with taking a few hours out of her social time to go to Sylvan and continue to hone in on the all the skills that will help her academically in the years to come. Sylvan is worth every penny!!!

I wish Sylvan Learning Chestermere was my sons full time school and not just his reading tutor! The teachers are so kind and patient. Unlike the regular school classroom, they do not move on to a new learning subject until the child has mastered it and this has made all the difference in success for my child. If one method of teaching doesn't work they try another and another until the child is able to grasp the material. Sylvan is a financial and time commitment but it is very worth it!!

Our daughter has been falling behind at school with her math. When the public school she attends didn’t have access to offer extra help for her we turned to Sylvan Learning. She has completed 6 weeks thus far and we have witnessed her confidence and understanding grow. The tutors have made her feel comfortable attending her sessions. Debbie and her team have been a great support for my Son with increasing his confidence and skills related to literacy. We are 6 weeks in and I am already noticing big improvements! Our experience at Sylvan Learning Chestermere has been exceptional. Deborah and her staff really go the extra mile to connect with the kids and make sure everyone is reaching their goal. Our son went from working on skills at a grade 2 level to working his grade 7 grade level in 5 months. Well worth the investment! We would highly recommend this to anyone who’s child is needing extra help with school.

Our son was having a lot of issues in school that were not being worked on and we brought him to Sylvan in Chestermere and they are all amazing - he is now up to grade level. He actually enjoys going! thanks for all your hard work
