After moving to Calgary in 2022, I struggled for two years to find a doctor who truly listened to my concerns. The search was frustrating, with clinic waiting rooms packed and visits that left me feeling unheard. A friend finally recommended Alpine Medical in Banff. Although I was hesitant due to the distance, I decided to give it a try—and I’m so glad I did.
From the moment I called, I was impressed. The receptionist was warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. To my surprise, I was offered a same-day appointment! This charming clinic, nestled in the beautiful town of Banff, even accommodates walk-ins.
I met with Dr. Szmigielski, a younger doctor whose compassion and attentiveness exceeded my expectations. He listened carefully, showed genuine empathy, and made me feel valued as a patient. Finding a doctor who is so clearly passionate about helping people has been an enormous relief.
If you’re searching for a clinic that truly cares, I highly recommend Alpine Medical.

I highly recommend this clinic, the staff are patient and kind! Recently I needed attention quickly and they were able to accommodate me quickly despite being so busy, and I am so grateful. I felt listened and tended to.

- The staff talked about sensitive patient information (why they were there) well within hearing range of the full waiting room.

- I saw Dr. Fowke, she made me feel incredibly uncomfortable during my appointment. She was callus about my health concern and pressured me for information, with disregard to my expressed wish not to share it.

- I found out there was a billing issue many months after the visit. The delay created more work for me to sort out.

Doctor was great! The first receptionist was kind too but when she finished her shift, a younger one has to accommodate me. This receptionist was awful and rude! I had to type in what I was saying because I lost my voice. When I finished my check up I went to her to ask if I need to sign anything because this was my first time at the clinic and she was making a sign that she can’t hear me (hand over her ear) with that annoyed look in her face. She knew at this point that I couldn’t talk. I had to call my husband to ask her the same thing because she was so unaccommodating! And her response was ‘I don’t know’ with a shrug on the shoulder. Like how does this person get to qualify on a job where you need to assist people who are in need of help? She was seated at the left when you enter the clinic. Avoid her at all cost.

Was skeptical at first from other Google reviews but it seems like the recent change in ownership has greatly improved the overall quality of this clinic. Would recommend to anyone in Banff seeking medical assistance.

Dr. Alek was amazing! My husband and I were in Banff from the States on a ski holiday when I got sick. The clinic was able to get me in within an hour (I was a walk-in during the middle of the week for reference). Both the assistant and Dr. Alek were very kind and compassionate. It is sometimes scary getting ill away from home and Dr. Alek made sure I had the right medication to get me back home. I am very appreciative of this clinic.
